Team Spotlight Interview with Wendy Jordan

1. What do you like most about working for Ty Boyd?

It’s a joy to get to work with a company that stands for everything good, respectful and honest in this world. As the Director of Marketing, it’s my responsibility to produce and distribute content online that represents the heart of Ty Boyd. And every time I begin the creation process, I get lost in the fascinating writings, talks, and quotes of Ty, and get re-inspired every single time. It is an honor beyond words that I get to help share the accomplishments, values, and insights of Ty Boyd Inc with the world!

2. Describe the company in one word or sentence.

Unbelievably heart-driven and the most selfless, caring company I’ve ever worked with.

3. What’s the number one thing you’ve learned since being a part of this company?

That there’s nothing they wouldn’t do to help others. If it means loading their schedules with more than most could handle, they’ll do it if they know that’s what it takes to serve more people.

4. What’s the best story from your time with the company?

Goodness, I have so many already! Honestly the thing that comes to mind is the first time I had dinner with our Founders Ty and Pat. It’s not necessarily a “story,” but watching the way they interacted lovingly, still looked at each other admiringly, and treated one another with patience and respect after 58 years of marriage was a beautiful thing to watch.

5. What was your experience like attending the Excellence in Speaking Institute as a student?

I was really nervous because I’ve always had a fear of speaking of public, but I was equally excited because I knew it was something that had held me back in life and it would give me the skills and confidence to launch me to a new level and be able to impact people in greater ways! Throughout my 3-day journey, I laughed, I cried, and I bonded with my fellow classmates as we each felt what it was like to experience true vulnerability, honesty, and bravery.

6. What should someone expect from going through the course?

One should expect to be pushed out of their comfort zone in ways that will stretch and grow them like they never knew possible. And like they say, “Life begins at the end of your comfort zone!”

7. What truly makes you different than other companies?

Most companies sell standard products or services…what we offer is something that can ONLY be “experienced!”

8. When you were young did you ever imagine you’d be an integral part of a global organization such as Ty Boyd, Inc.?

To be honest, I’m not very surprised. Intensely grateful? YES! Surprised? Not particularly. I knew at a very early age that I wanted to make my mark in the business and marketing world. At age five, I was selling 3 cent bookmarks throughout my neighborhood, at age six I was carrying a briefcase and a Day-Planner around the house while my friends carried baby dolls, and at age seven I was producing our family newsletter “The Joyce Journal” on my typewriter and balancing my parent’s checkbook. I think it’s safe to say I was born to do what I’m doing! I’m so grateful to be able to put my God-given gifts to use with a company as wonderful as this one. :)

9. Describe yourself in one word or sentence.

Driven and ambitious…optimistic, loyal, and compassionate.

10. What are some things you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

I enjoy paddle boarding, pilates, trying new healthy recipes, taking my dachshund to the park, throwing frisbee with my husband… pretty much anything outside in the sunshine! I also love volunteering at my church and advocating for the elderly by speaking at events and nursing homes.
