Team Spotlight Interview with Molly Hunt

1. What do you like most about working for Ty Boyd?

I love sharing the legacy that my parents created. It is a gift and a privilege to be in this position.

2. Describe the company in one word or sentence.

Others focused. Driven to help others succeed.

3. What’s the number one thing you’ve learned since being a part of this company?

Having been with the company for over 20 years, I’ve learned a lot about a lot! But, if I had to pick one…it’s the reminder that we have never arrived, but always on the journey. We always have room to improve.

4. What’s the best story from your time with the company?

Seriously? That’s not a fair question. We have so many incredible stories! Every class, each participant and everyone that has ever worked with us has provided such great experiences. But, recently we worked with a company that allows you to bring your pets to work. One afternoon while teaching with Dave Reinhardt, two dogs joined him in the front of the room, it was hysterical. We all loved it!

5. What was your experience like attending the Excellence in Speaking Institute as a student?

It was an experience I will never forget! We had an amazing group! My heart was beating out of my chest with nerves. Then, there was the added pressure of having Pat Boyd, Ty Boyd, Anne Boyd Moore, Dave Reinhardt (and I’m sure a few others) in the back of the room on the 3rd day. I wanted so badly to wake up with the flu, but no luck. Once I delivered my final speech, I was elated! Not because class was over, but I proved to myself that I could do it. The feeling was incredible! And, it was in my opinion, one of my best!

6. What should someone expect from going through the course?

Come in with your eyes wide open! Often times people will say, “this course changed my life!” or “the best training I’ve ever had in my professional career!” or “wish I had this course when I was in my 20’s!” and the reason we hear this is because these individuals showed up and were present for the course. It is such a worthwhile investment! If you “show up” then, expect to see a significant improvement in everything you do.

7. What truly makes you different than other companies?

What makes us different? We work with small businesses, global organizations, young people, you name it! At the core, we are about relationships. We are not just teaching public speaking. We are teaching others to be more effective communicators in all aspects of life. This is not a transaction, this is our passion! We are extremely passionate about helping others succeed in life.

8. When you were young did you ever imagine you’d be running a global organization such as Ty Boyd, Inc.?

Ha! Ha! Not in a million years did I ever imagine this chapter! I was the kid who swore they would never do what their parents did (insert shoe in mouth). What I’ve come to learn is that this is all I have ever known and I now treat it as a gift. My parents created a lasting legacy that I am so proud to be apart. How lucky am I? Once Pat and Ty took a step back, my sister Anne was then officially my boss (and best friend). She had such a way about her and I knew we were in good hands. But, losing her to cancer in 2017 changed everything, forever. I know I have some big shoes to fill. That is why we have the incredible staff that we have. And, while they are not blood, they are family and I know (you will know) we are in good hands. I couldn’t do any of this without them.

9. Describe yourself in one word or sentence.

Enjoys nothing more than to be “others focused.”

10. What are some things you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

I love being a Mom to Cooper (15) and wife to Jim. When I’ve been traveling, it’s nice to come home to our little beach town in Florida. It feels like a vacation. I also love 5k runs to honor our CAO, Anne too.
